Wardrobe Heroes | How To Style A Trouser Suit So That It Feels Less Corporate
I am a huge advocate of the trouser suit. As a top-to-toe tailored look, it offers impact while also being a very quick styling option for busy days.
That being said, I always want a trouser suit to feel contemporary rather than corporate. That means softening the edges with the right styling. There are a few rules that I live by in order to give whatever suit I’m wearing an effortless ease and enduring comfort for long days.

- High-Waisted Soft Tapered Trouser

- Super Fluid Longline Blazer
THE SHOES
I always style my suits with flats so that you get the slouchiness in the trouser leg.
A white trainer or cream plimsoll will always give tailoring a nonchalant ease, but if that’s a tad too casual for a meeting or event that I might be going to, then I’ll lean into the masculinity of the suit and opt for a loafer instead.

THE CUFFS
Turning up the cuffs on a blazer is a shortcut to making it feel less formal (it’s also an excellent trick if you find the sleeves too long).
By continuing the fabric of the blazer on the inside of the sleeve, we make sure you can turn up the cuffs without disrupting the overall look. Or you can look to our Super Fluid Longline Blazer which inverts the idea of traditional tailoring with an unstructured cut and contrasting pinstripe lining that’s only revealed when you turn up the cuffs.

THE TOP
Choosing what top to layer with your suit is key to the overall look.
If you’re heading to an event like a wedding or graduation, styling a structured trouser suit with a silk blouse will achieve an elevated polish. But if you’re styling your suit for a day in the office then look to your basics - a plain black crew neck tee or white ribbed vest.

THE WAIST
Most of the trousers that accompany this season’s suiting feature an adjustable waist detail - a tab at the back or removable belt - that means you can control and tailor the fit.
If you want your trouser to sit lower or hug your waist less, then simply loosen the waist tab on our High Waist Soft Tapered Trouser or remove the belt of our Textured High Waist Trouser to style it with an untucked top.
