The Transeasonal Footwear Checklist
Words by: Isla Philo. Design by: Melanie Makariou
As we move into a new season, it’s the perfect time to reassess your wardrobe and decide on the clever investments to make now, which will reinvigorate your existing favourites all season. What better place to start than shoes? After all, they’re the true hero players in our wardrobe. The late Iris Apfel - designer, businesswoman and all-around style icon - summed it up: “If your hair is done properly and you’re wearing good shoes, you can get away with anything.” While we can’t do your hair, we can promise good shoes.

THE INTELLIGENT LOAFER
Loafers are a footwear staple, but often conjure up images of stiff leather that’s hard to break in. Enter the Travel Loafer, the antithesis of everything that may have put you off loafers in the past.
Intelligent in design and smart in appearance, they’re crafted in Italy from supple Italian leather or suede that’s both lightweight and durable, then set on an ultra-flexible sole. Best of all, they’re cleverly shaped with an ergonomic toe box that’s wider than most, which means no toe-crushing fit and a flattering shape that looks great when it peeks out of trousers. Take your pick from our range of considered neutrals, including black patent, cream leather, or tactile tan suede.

THE CONTEMPORARY FLAT
A great flat never goes out of style. However, there are certain considerations to keep in mind when designing a ballet-style flat with timeless appeal.
Our new-season flats mark the union of modern style and comfortable design, featuring our signature intelligent details like a wider, naturally angled front section and a higher vamp for a secure fit on the foot. Tactile fabrics like textural Italian leopard-print leather, bronze mesh or silver studs bring a statement edge to each pair, making the ideal choice to elevate even the most casual looks.

THE MODERN WESTERN
An essential shoe style in every wardrobe that walks the line between statement and staple - the Western boot.
We’ve opted for a rich Chocolate brown that goes with all your favourite neutrals and winter brights alike, and an Italian croc-effect leather for clever pairing with key new-season accessories like bags and belts. But the really clever thing about this boot is the height: the higher ankle fit means it finishes at just the right place to work with all manner of midi, maxi or cropped hemlines. The sculpted but not constricting chiselled front is set on a sturdy rubber sole that’s extended slightly for added stability, while a low, angled block heel gives comfortable height.

THE AM-PM BOOT
Our Stretch Boot is the epitome of ‘if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it’. They’ve become a seasonal signature for us, and for good reason.
Now available in both ankle and knee-high lengths, the Stretch Boot is aptly named after its super-soft and stretch-infused Nappa leather upper. The key to success in this style is making sure the leather has the perfect amount of stretch so it can fit easily and stay put, but also retain its shape.

THE ELEVATED TRAINER
A smart trainer is a wardrobe essential. They bring a more casual mood to tailoring and add a subtle edge to the feminine look of a floral dress or blouse. Not to mention their primary benefit of being comfortable.
This season’s new Retro Runner Trainer answers the call for a polished style that’s elevated in look and stature. Part of the genius of this style is the hidden height we’ve incorporated into the heel. The camouflaged 3cm heel platform provides a subtle lift while maintaining the appearance of a flat trainer, and it looks especially good paired with wide-leg, tailored trousers. We’ve chosen a super-soft and supple suede or leather for the upper, which gives an extra comfortable feel and no painful ‘wearing in’ period, plus an additional set of laces comes with each pair for your choice of tonal or contrasting finishes.
